Description
There are a number of principles that seasoned OD practitioners know to be true surrounding mid to large scale projects. First and foremost, it is intuitively obvious that good Project Management (defined clinically as on-time, on-budget and on-scope) is a critical ingredient for a successful project. Second, it is also obvious that a project’s main purpose is usually to change something (for example, a new system, procedure, a new building, or a new way of ordering product). Third, OD practitioners are aware that people as a rule do not like change. So why is it that change management is quite often not fully integrated with project management as a critical component to successful projects (further defined as sustained change, that, oh by the way, was on-time, on-budget and on-scope)?This session will dig into the need for good change management that is interwoven into project management and address questions such as:
o What is the true value of change management?
o How do you blend the art of change management into the project management palette?
o Is there a way to tangibly measure the success of change/project management?
Please bring your best “horror story” of project management with you. It can be a project that is active or past history. During the session, we will attempt to take several scenarios apart and discuss what could have been done differently.
