Psychological safety is being discussed more frequently in the workplace. Psychological safety is a key factor in healthy teams. A leader’s job—whether at the top of an organization or somewhere in the middle—is to create a safe space for people to speak up, make mistakes, and bring their full selves to work. As practitioners our teams are more than our direct reports; in many ways, it is the entire organization.

Our goal for this session is to generate a conversation. We want to share the research and hear your experiences. Upon competition you will be able to answer:

• What does psychological safety mean?
• How can you recognize unsafe environments?
• What you can do for yourself if you exist in an unsafe environment?
• How you can help others who exist in an unsafe environment?
• What can we do as practitioners to create a psychologically safe environment?
